Giant land snails are not only great animals to watch. Their slow movements train mindfulness, and the heavy snails can help with sensory support. That is why our giant African land snails also come to you – to your school or nursery.
What the children experience
- Watching snails up close: How do they move? How do they eat? What does their shell feel like?
- Letting a snail crawl carefully over their hand – this takes calm and patience.
- Finding out how giant land snails live: in a terrarium with soil, moss and fern, with fresh vegetables.
- Practising consideration: being quiet, touching gently and paying attention to an animal’s needs.
Good to know
The visit is adapted to the children’s age and to your group. After touching the snails, everyone washes their hands.
