Hofzeit – time on the farm

Time that does you good – a special place for people who need support

Sometimes it doesn’t take much to make a good day:

• an animal curiously coming up to you
• sunshine on your face
• the smell of hay
• a conversation together
• a familiar moment that brings back memories

That is exactly what Hofzeit at the Sommerhof is for.

On our farm in Ulm-Unterweiler we create a safe and personal setting for older people who need support.
Here we combine encounters with animals, nature, activation and social togetherness into a special form of care.

Experience animals. Awaken memories. Enjoy company.
Our animals are an important part of Hofzeit. Whether pony, sheep, chicken, rabbit or pig –
contact with animals can bring joy, spark conversations and awaken memories of earlier stages of life.
Together we can watch the animals, care for them, stroke them and experience them. Performance is not what matters.

It is about spending a good time together.

What can you expect at Hofzeit?

Our offer is tailored individually to the abilities and interests of the participants.

Possible activities include, for example:

• encounters with our ponies
• watching and caring for animals
• contact with sheep and other farm animals
• visiting the rabbits
• walks and small nature experiences
• seasonal activities
• creative activities
• light tasks around the farm
• sitting together, telling stories and sharing
• memory and reminiscence activities
• time for personal conversations

Care is provided by qualified everyday companions.

A place for encounters
Hofzeit is for people who enjoy being around others, love animals, are looking for variety in everyday life or would like to take part in social life again through small activities.

People with limited mobility or support needs can also take part – within their individual abilities.

Valuable support for relatives too

When a family member needs care, everyday life often changes for the whole family. Hofzeit can be an additional source of care and relief.

While your relative spends varied time in company with us, family carers gain some freedom:
Time for yourself.
Time for appointments.
Time for the family.
Or simply time to catch your breath.

Individual rather than “off the peg”

We don’t want to offer a rigid care plan. We look at the person:
What brings joy? What is interesting? What is possible? What does them good?

This is how a personal Hofzeit experience comes about.

Funding

If our offer is officially recognised and the personal requirements are met, funding via the relief amount under section 45b of the German Social Code, Book XI (SGB XI) may be possible.
We will be happy to inform you personally about the requirements and options.

For relatives, organisations and partners
Hofzeit can be requested not only by relatives. We also welcome cooperation with:
care services · day care centres · care homes · advice centres · social organisations · residential groups · support services

Together we can develop individual group or visiting arrangements.
